LIFE AND NEW IDEAS MAY BE IN THE PAUSE:
SUMMER IS A GREAT TIME TO REFRESH YOUR MARKETING
SUMMER IS A GREAT TIME TO REFRESH YOUR MARKETING
☀️ For many nonprofits, summer offers a rare pause—a moment between fiscal years, major events, or campaigns. While the mission never takes a vacation, the pace might shift just enough to let fresh ideas in.
As a nonprofit marketing consultant, I’ve seen this season become an unexpected opportunity: a time when organizations can breathe, reflect, and reimagine how they tell their story.
Here’s why summer is a great time to give your marketing a little love:
🌿 Space creates perspective.
Whether you're stepping away for a vacation or just enjoying a quieter inbox, that mental shift can open up space for creative clarity. Sometimes the best ideas come when you're not chasing deadlines.
📣 Your message still matters—even in the "off-season."
Supporters don’t stop caring in the summer. In fact, they may finally have time to catch up on what you’re doing. A compelling story, an updated website, or a thoughtful email campaign can spark new energy in unexpected moments.
🧭 A small strategy tweak now can pay off big later.
Fall appeals, Giving Tuesday, year-end fundraising—these come up fast. Laying the groundwork now (even just a messaging refresh or visual update) can save time and reduce stress when the pace picks up again.
🛠️ Marketing is part of the mission.
It’s not just a “nice to have.” Telling your story clearly and consistently is how you build trust, deepen relationships, and inspire action. It helps your team, your board, your donors—and ultimately, your impact.
So maybe this summer, the big idea isn’t a big project. Maybe it’s just taking a walk, sitting in the sand, flipping through your annual report, and asking: “Is this really telling our story?”
If the answer is not quite—this is the perfect time to start.
I’d love to hear what’s on your mind this season—whether it’s a question, a stuck point, or a spark of inspiration. Sometimes a fresh perspective is all it takes.
Enjoy the waves!
